Experimental analysis of cassava starch as a fluid loss control agent on drilling mud

This study designed the effective fluid loss agents for controlling loss. Various polymers have been used as additives using natural polymer from cassava starch. Bulky Cassava was cleaned with water and it grounded, filtered, dried, sieved to obtain suitable starch additive size. filtration mud cake test carried out under Low Pressure Temperature (LPLT) apparatus. The sample separated accommodate aqueous phase after 30 min thickness of on filter paper that has installed LPLT device. plastic viscosity, yield point gel strength measurement were completed Fann VG Meter apparatus measuring shear stress. rotor speed set by 600, 300, 200, 100, 6 3 RPM. results showed obtained 6.8–5.6 ml, value 0.155–0.135 cm, viscosity 10–20 cp, 5–15 lb/100 ft 2 0.4–0.6 2. Addition mass can reduce loss, canincrease strength.
